The Scene - in Heaven

Rev. 4:1 "After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter."

Activities that are happening in heaven surrounding the THRONE...Focus is on the One who sits there.

1. The Where - The Place

Rev. 4:2 "And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne."

The first thing that arrested his attention was a throne.

An exalted and an uplifted position above all - a stately or kingly seat.

As a King, Governor, and Judge...he is the King of kings, and Lord of lords.

2. The Who - The Person

Rev. 4:2 "And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne."

Description of God (v.3,5,8,9,10,11)

His glory and majesty;

His power and might;

His worthiness and His deservings.

Rev. 4:8 "...about Him...Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come."

His Holiness - thrice holiness;

His Eternity - from everlasting to everlasting;

His Almightiness - nothing that He cannot do...His creation of the whole wide world!

3. The Whom - The Persons

Rev. 4:9 "And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,"

The Angels

The Prophets and Apostles

The Redeemed

The Whole World - willingly or unwillingly, they must bow to Him for He is their Creator, Sustainer of all life.

Rev. 4:10 "The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne..."

They fell down with reverence and fear;

They worship with gratitude and thanksgiving;

They cast their crowns to Him who alone is worthy of these honours and recognition.

4. The Why - The Purpose

Rev. 4:11 "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."

It is about God and what He deserves and desires from His creation;

The greatest purpose in life, chief end of man - God's enjoyment!

5. The When - The Periods

Rev. 4:8 "And the four beasts...and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come."

For God is so worthy, it is not enough to praise Him once in a while, but throughout all eternity, all our eternal life!

"Day and night" - never tired of praising Him!

The Pleasure of the LORD

Isaiah 53:10 "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand."

What Christ's sacrifice has done to bring God's pleasure to the highest level and thus to the highest praise of God!
